Day Ma tells the story of Irène (103) and Yvette (68), mother and daughter. They live in the residential care center. Together, because Yvette has a mental disability, and cannot live without her mother. The film follows the courageous journey of Yvette, who soon has nowings to shelter under. Will Yvette find the strength to take the first steps toward a life without her mother? It is a film full of emotion, drama and life wisdom, but above all, lots of humor.
For co-director Ellen, Aunt Irène and Yvette were no more than distant relatives. A great-aunt and her daughter, eccentric apparitions. Yvette sits there but does not speak.
