YWCA: Your Wife Constantly Away

Documentary2019
This film documents the 100th anniversary of YWCA Antwerp, an organization that, despite its long existence, is not very well known. YWCA Antwerp is part of the worldwide YWCA, which with 25 million members is the largest women's organization in the world. YWCA Antwerp also enjoys the patronage of her Majesty the Queen.
What makes the Antwerp branch of this organization so unique is its pluralism. Women of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, religions and more can visit this unique organization and have done so for 100 years.
The film is built around archive material, testimonies, stories and the home of YWCA at Paleisstraat 39-41 in Antwerp. This gives a clear picture of the evolution this organization has gone through and why the organization is the way it is today.
YWCA's story is one of openness and tolerance, courage and perseverance, feminism and empowerment, love and friendship.
